The Methuen Rail Trail Alliance started moving and weeding and cleaning of the corridor in the spring of 2009.
Volunteers continued to clean and clear the length of the rail trail for the years leading up to actual construction.
In 2012 Iron Horse Preservation a non-profit corportation engaged by the City, removed the rails and ties and graded the surface.

This regrind asphalt trail surface must last us until a time when we can get larger state funding for a permanent Asphalt surface.
