We are having our first working party for the kiosk this Monday night at 5:30 for a couple of hours. We are looking for a couple of volunteers to help. If you have thought of helping out, here is a chance.   Please contact Tim Vermette at tim.65@Verizon.net and I will forward the address to you.

Trail Walk

Our monthly trail walk is next weekend, Saturday the 20th at 8:30. We will be leaving from the IHOP parking area near the trail and deciding to go either north or south. Please join us for a casual and usually informative walk

Monthly Meeting

Just a reminder that our monthly meeting is tomorrow night, ( Tuesday) at 7pm Nevins Library. We will be scheduling work parties to help build our informational kiosk. If you would like to help, please stop by and add your name to the list.

MOON WALK

We are have our monthly moon walk this Sunday night May 3rd at 8:30 pm. We are leaving from the IHOP parking area and walking north to explore the Salem NH southern section. It`s 1 1/4 miles to the turn around where we will be stopping for an ice cream(for those that want to). So bring the family. Be sure to dress for the weather and bring a flashlight. Essex Heritage Announces 2015 Partnership Grant Recipients

15 Grants Awarded to Local Organizations

April 17, 2015 (Salem, MA) – Essex National Heritage Commission(Essex Heritage), a non-profit that manages and provides numerous programs preserving and enhancing EssexCounty’s historic, natural and cultural sites, announced the 2015 Essex Heritage Partnership Grant Programrecipients at the Commission’s Spring Meeting in Lawrence on April 16. Over the next year, the 15 grant recipients will be working to implement a diverse range of educational, interpretive, and preservation projects throughout Boston’sNorth Shore.

Methuen Rail Trail Alliance

Built downtown in 1907, the brick Methuenrailroad depot is the starting point for many of the organized community activities taking place on the 2.4 mile Methuen Rail Trail. To enhance the user experience, the MethuenRail Trail Alliance will use Essex Heritage funding to create an attractive gateway setting around the depot. The project will include landscaping and the installation of wayfindingand interpretative signage describing the trail’shistorical and present day links to mill buildings, the Spicket River Greenway, NevinsBird Sanctuary and marshlands leading to the New Hampshire border

Walk date change

The walk scheduled for April 5th has been changed to April 12th at 7:30. Its a moon walk so bring flashlight, dress for the weather and bring water. Hope to see you out there.

snow shoeing

With all the snow now on the trail, we are going out snowshoeing. On sunday the 1st at 8:30 am at the IHOP end of the trail. We have several pairs of shoes to borrow and we also have kids shoes. Please let us know if you are going and need to borrow either adult or kids shoes at tim.65@verizon.net

Monthly Walk

We will be traveling to North Andover this month to check out the trails around the Stevens Estate. Come join our group as we see what other trails are like and meet some neighbors. Meeting at 8:30  on Sunday the 14th. I will post exactly where after this weekend. Tim
